Symbol of Japan.

..Japanese say it Fuji-San (富士山)… or Fuji Yama.

Also,

The highest Mountain in Japan.

A UNESCO world Heritage site.

And much more…So much more that sheer words are not enough. You have got to visit this place once in your lifetime.

Yet, I want to share some fascinating lines and one of my other beautiful experiences about it...

(a photo from google.com)

Once In a Lifetime :) :) :)

Mt.Fuji as you see here has a rich beauty; its conical shape makes it unusually scenic, as it is also snow-capped most of the year.

Fuji-San is situated on the Honshu Island… or south-west of Tokyo, roughly a 100 kilometres away. It is surrounded by five lakes which overall gives a mighty aerial view. Fuji-San can sometimes be visible from Tokyo as well on a clear day.

Due to its Sprawling beauty many climbers have this mountain on their climbing list. Nearly 200,000-400,000 people climb the mountain every year. Yup, that’s quite a number to say!! ….The best period to climb is July- August.

The excitement of Summiting this mountain is a real treat to the eyes….

The lowest temperature recorded at the summit was -38 degrees Celsius ….but that was in the year 1981...!!! .. But still, as the peak is snow-capped most of the year, the temperature at the top is freezing cold …!!

Though got to admit: Nothing beats the fun of reaching the Summit .. :)

Well, we had a chance of experiencing this Mountain… Climbing Mt.Fuji was a Significant and incredible thing to do….as said words are less to express the fun, pleasure, sights, and fears (some) …

If you are planning on the ascent of FUJI-SAN, that is 3,776 meters, then do plan wisely and carefully how you want to go about it... there’s no fooling around ..!

PLAN IT!!!

Plan all your carry on…loads of things required my friend, but don’t fill it up too heavy. Pack light and smart. Remember! you have to carry it all by yourself.. Till The Top!!

So,

We started fixing up stuffs like - our date & time of travel, packing bags, clothing’s, weather check, sunrise timings on the summit, deciding on our trekking path/trail, health check, making your body fit and then other to-buy items …

And well, Got our bags packed...with all the necessary items... food, snacks, vitamins, drinks, lights, cameras, rain gears, sunblock, towels, plastics (to carry your own garbs), gloves, warmers, mountaineering sticks/poles, medicals, oxygen (altitude sickness will kick in folks), mask, sunglasses etc.…

We got our bus tickets booked from Tokyo to Mt.Fuji - GoGome (5th Station)… the main spot for the visitors and trekkers to start from. Reaching that spot too was Wonderful. Cold winds, clouds passing through, that misty feeling was Spellbinding…. The 5th Station at Mt.Fuji is a very energetic place... filled with visitors and climbers... people are enjoying their drinks, clicking pictures of the splendour Mt.Fuji has to offer, climbers getting their stuff ready for the big journey ahead, freshening-up, doing their final packing, covering up their bodies and bags and putting on the trekking gears etc… Well, you can also buy many things on the 5th station. Many shops around that offer many many things to buy which you would require during the trek…

…that lively atmosphere surely is always going to be right in front of my eyes, hypnotic moments…..

So then, we too got ready steady to Start…

And The Trek Begins

We made a start by the noon… with all the courage and eagerness!! We chose the celebrated Yoshida Trail and kick started our trek to the TOP.!

From the 5th station to the 6th station the climb was a respectable wide smooth tree filled path, which passed by quite soon; in a Swift…!!

Then from the 6th station to the 7th the path got steeper and we started to get a feel of what’s coming ahead is not going to be some daylight walk in a garden!!! ….So, once we reached the 7th station we needed some good healthy snacking- nuts and energy drinks etc.. (which we carried)….And then again we set off for the upcoming demanding path…

7th station to the 8th station was quite a challenging route, climbing the Boulders all the way did take some good energy out of us.

8th station to 9th was when the real anxiety starts, altitude starts its work of annoying you with light headedness, maybe some uneasy feeling and all.… there’s where your Oxygen will come handy… get some puffs, take some rest and you will get set!!

(One best part of this mountain trek is that you get many options for a night halt hut. You can either book a bed/space per person in the hut over the phone, or try to reach early for some shelter or night halt. During the peak season its better to pre-book a bed space for yourself.)

And then the final climb from the 9th station to the 10th station…and finally, where the two white lions await you…! The moment you see that you will be gratified and flattered and thrilled to realise that you have actually reached the TOP .. !.

We spent a decent time on the Summit..Enjoying the view of the Sunrise … seeing the clouds BELOW you…ohh that scene!!! It was like The SEA OF CLOUDS, they say “Unkai” in Japanese …!!

After all those Cherishing moments, it’s finally time to get down … and that’s where the real exhaustion takes place. Really to say, the descent is very tiring. Those steep slopes literally kills your legs.!

But but but…over all..Salute to the beauty, the views, the atmosphere, the fun; the experience is just extraordinary!!

It’s a Rewarding feeling to Summit Mt. Fuji.!!!

Well, to everyone or anyone reading this, do TRY and visit this place ONCE! :)...

Hope you had a good time reading my lines…!!!

See you in my next Article.

Till then KEEP DISCOVERING...!!! :)
