Hi there Readers!!!

Welcoming you to my new lines...

In these I’m introducing you to a very essential topic which typically is mistaken by many of us!

That is the difference between an Interior Designer and an Interior Decorator…Yes exactly; these two names/professions are generally confused by many.

So, basically I would like to enlighten you on this part …

Who Is an Interior Designer?

Well, a Designer generates an interior space according to people’s needs, keeping in mind the form and the functions with calculated planning from the very beginning.

They often work closely with architects and contractors to help achieve the look the client desires.

… Studying the structure, modifying if needed, working on space planning, computer-aided design (CAD), drawings, architectural details, furniture designing and placement, colour, fabrics, cushions, curtains, styles of decor, balancing the ambiance of the interiors and more. All can be taken care by the Designer alone. They can very well deal with the structural aspects of your living space and suit it according to your taste and need, may it even be electrical, plumbing ideas, ducting etc.…

Furthermore, as an example, the Designer can also DESIGN a particular piece of furniture suiting the interiors and your requirements and will know where to place it making it look more beautiful as well as get the best use of it.

Coming to the Interior Decorator –they work on beautifying the space existing, they do not create the Interior spaces, they work on a space that already exists. Decorators can Help you achieve the look and finish of your living space with choosing the right furniture and their placements, light fixtures, carpets, rugs, sofas, curtains, wall colours…etc..

They usually are needed once the final space is ready in structural ways and the next or final decorating touch is needed, Interior Decorators help you enhance the look of your space, may it be with the furniture one already has, or has to be bought, they can help you in choosing or buying the right kind of accessories needed.

Therefore, an Interior Designer can function as an Interior Decorator too, but a Decorator does not function as a Designer.

...Coming to an end of this brief description, I hope this has cleared out certain doubts in our minds between these two professions... So, hoping now you can choose according to your requirements that whom you shall call or contact for managing, beautifying and building your dream space.

Till then, keep it Stylish!!
